Wierdsville

Wierdsville poster The small prairie-town of Weedsville is crammed with freaky oddballs, strange occurrences, and not a lot of opportunity. Dexter and Royce are your typical disaffected slackers. Chances are they would have continued to drift through life in a dope-filled haze if Matilda, Royce’s girlfriend, hadn’t O.D.’d on their stash. Knowing that calling the police will only land them in jail, Dexter and Royce decide the only thing to do is bury her in the basement of the Drive-In theatre that’s closed for the winter. Their plan would have worked to, if they didn’t happen to stumble upon a Satanic cult performing a ritual sacrifice. That’s the bad news. The good news is that somehow Matilda wakes from her coma and in the distraction she and the boys manage to escape. The Satanists however, think they brought Matilda back from the dead, and they want her back.

As if it weren’t enough to be on the run from a bunch of devil worshippers, Nigel, the local drug kingpin is after them for the money they owe on the stash they were supposed to be selling for him. The guys figure the only way the can pay back Nigel is to rip off the town’s eccentric millionaire. Too bad Royce left the plans for the job and the safe code back at his apartment. Worse still, the Satanists find the plans and set off after them. Not only are Dex and Royce unable to open the safe before the Satanists arrive, but on their way out they run into – literally – the millionaire’s nephew. The Satanists grab Matilda and are just about to kill the boys but salvation comes from the strangest of places: a team of vengeful midgets with a hate-on for cults. With help from their little friends, the boys manage to get away from the Satanists again.

But it aint all clear sailing from here, they still have to get the money, pay back Nigel, save the girl, rid themselves of the Satanists once and for all, and stay out of jail.

Wierdsville is directed by Canadian filmmaker, Allan Moyle.
