Team America: World Police

South Park’s Matt Stone and Trey Parker have brought Thunderbirds bang up to date with Team America: World Police.

According to Matt Stone:

We did this movie because we didn’t want to work with actors. We tried to stay true to the Thunderbirds thing and we don’t use any computers in this movie; it’s all painfully real, and all those explosions you see are built on stage.

And it looks fantastic.

On a related note, Sci Fi Wire was reporting a couple of days ago that the White House is very unhappy about this film. Apparantly, an “anonymous senior adviser to President Bush” told the Drudge Report that “I would suggest Paramount give respect to those fighting and sacrificing to keep America safe.”

If this report is true (and I’m not convinced), I can’t help wondering if Bush is starting to worry that his “War on Terror” rhetoric is about to be ridiculed for the moronic fear-mongering it is.
