ArAf

ArAf trailer Thanks to Twitch for pointing me in the direction of Biray Dalkiran’s Araf, a Turkish horror film that looks very striking indeed.

The plot, aparantly, involves a restless soul that is refusing to leave the Earth and is looking for a new body to inhabit. The trailer starts off looking spooky, and then gets seriously disturbing.

The Altruist

The Altruist poster

Every year in the United States there are 30,000 murders.
In that same time there are 60,000 suicides.
Wouldn’t it be great if we could get these people together?

Welcome to the latest independent film by One by One Films, The Altruist. It is a story of death, murder, and deceit with flavorings of romance and compassion. It will probably be Jack Kevorkian’s favorite independent movie!

The small company Terminal Assist specializes in counseling people and helping them through the toughest of times in life. They offer legitimate services to needy people. But, oftentimes, there are no alternatives to compassionate help but the most extreme ones. Some people are just so bad off with a terminal illness that they need instant relief, to kill the pain.

If you have thousands of murderers out there, and thousands of people wanting to opt out of their terminal problems, why not marry the two? Everyone is happy (or happily dead) in the end and the law is none the wiser. If anyone found out, there could be problems. Boy, could there be problems…

Jigsaw

Jigsaw poster ‘How can you solve a puzzle when you don’t know what it’s about?’

That is the question Jigsaw asks of it’s audience as they enter an intricate web where little is revealed and less is explained until it unfolds and reveals a story as unique as the way it’s told. Jigsaw is a non-chronological puzzle, a noir-ish crime thriller that slowly adds layer after layer, puzzle piece after puzzle piece, to finally reveal a riveting intricate plot.

What we know? A mysterious man has left his wife or girlfriend to go do a job of some sort. What’s the job? No idea, but it involves moving into an apartment and assuming an identity which may or may not be his own. There’s also a couple guys wearing swat gear and masks advancing on a house; some henchmen leading a blindfolded guy handcuffed through a forest; a well dressed man having an odd conversation with someone; and of course, they are all somehow connected with the mysterious man hanging out in the apartment.

As the puzzle slowly pieces itself together, the audience will get a chance to find out if they can solve a puzzle when they don’t know what it’s about.
