The Tell-Tale Heart - now in pre-production

Tell-Tale Heart poster The Tell-Tale Heart, a new feature film by filmmaker Mark Redfield, is now in pre-production and scheduled to begin principal photography in August 2007. The new film is based on the short story by Edgar Allan Poe and the American Civil War stories of Ambrose Bierce.

Set in the final days of the American Civil War and the time of Abraham Lincoln’s assassination, The Tell-Tale Heart tells the tale of Captain Winter (Mark Redfield), an Army officer obsessed with hunting down and capturing a mad killer who tortured and murdered his comrades during the conflict. The trail to catch the murderer leads to a boarding house on the outskirts of war-torn Richmond, Virginia, run by Mr. and Mrs. Clarion, played by Robert Quarry and Ingrid Pitt. There, Winter discovers that the madman is masquerading as the old couple’s son and turning the boarding house into a den of horror.

The film will be shot in Angeles, California and Baltimore, Maryland. Principal photography begins in August, 2007 for a 30 day shooting schedule, with additional location work in September, 2007.

As well as horror icons, Ingrid Pitt and Robert Quarry, the cast includes Kevin G. Shinnick and Jennifer Rouse, who spoke to our own Dale Pierce last year (here).

Stuart Voytilla and Redfield wrote the screenplay, with Redfield directing. Eric Supensky will handle the Make-Up and FX. The film will be photographed by Jeff Herberger and edited by Sean Paul Murphy.

Mark Redfield’s previous feature films include the award-winning Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (actor and director), Cold Harbour (actor and producer), The Death of Poe (actor and director) and Chainsaw Sally (actor and producer).
