Kindred spirirts jump into The Ocean
Kindred Media Group’s Jeffrey D. Erb and Joe Nicolo have signed on to produce Dante Tomaselli’s forth film, The Ocean. This will be the sixth film in Kindred’s production slate.
Set to begin production in Puerto Rico in late Spring, The Ocean is a tale of creeping terror that centers on a psychic who travels to Puerto Rico to be with her estranged family after the drowning deaths of her daughter’s husband and son. Upon arriving, the psychic begins receiving frightening premonitions as the ocean continues to claim more victims.
Dante Tomaselli said, “It’s a movie about killer waves and the cleansing of the earth’s sins…It’s about the end of the world…God’s wrath…the ocean itself revolting. There’s a deadly Ebola-like virus spreading along a coastal community. The Ocean is an apocalyptic horror film with the story of a shattered family in deep psychic pain at the core. I’m excited to have Kindred behind the production of my next feature.”
Fangoria, whose managing editor Michael Gingold co-wrote the film, has been talking to Dante about the atmosphere of the film.
“For many months, I’ve been experimenting with atmospheric sound textures, planning the audio design,” he continues. “Between my synthesizer compositions, rare samples and orchestral tracks by other composers, I have a huge palette. I love to paint with sounds. Visually, I’m going all-out. I want to give The Ocean a feeling of epic exuberance—very expansive, with vivid, color-saturated landscapes. Lots of electric blues and reds, lots of fog. With my other movies, I’ve been limited by budget constraints, but I don’t have to cut so many corners with The Ocean. I feel I can really take this film to new level.”
