Jet Li vs Jackie Chan: Confirmed

Jackie Chan and Jet Li The long rumoured collaboration between Jet Li and Jackie Chan has finally been confirmed.

According to Variety, the movie, known at the moment as the “untitled J&J project”, is billed as a family-friendly action film, with plenty of gravity-defying fights. Relativity Media has paid out $70m to get it made and officially hired Robert Minkoff, of Stuart Little and Haunted Mansion fame, to direct. Also on board is martial arts expert Yuen Woo-Ping, the man behind the fight scenes for The Matrix and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.

The film will tell the legend of the monkey king and his quest to achieve immortality. Li will play the monkey king as well as a silent monk. Chan will play the role of another monk, called T’sa Ho.

Shooting for the film is scheduled to start in April.
