Bikini Babes. With Swords
Dave at FilmRot has no taste. He has seen the German website for Corey Yuen’s film adaptation of the Dead or Alive video game series, DOA: Dead or Alive and is not impressed.
Video game adaptations are usually rubbish - I can’t think of one I’ve seen so far that wasn’t - but this film may be the exception that proves the rule. There is a trailer embedded in the site (and an English language one on YouTube), and from this I get the impression that this could be a fun film.
Clearly no-one is taking things very seriously - which is probably wise given that this is a film about battling babes and volleyball. And, maybe it’s just me, but there does seem to be some spoofing of other films going on in there - there were scenes on there that appeared to reference both Kill Bill and House of Flying Daggers - so maybe, just maybe, this will be the video game adaptation that turns out to be worth seeing.
Whether it is good enough to justify a sequel, however, is another question entirely.

No taste? As a rule, video game based movies suck harder than a former Acclaim executive trying to make rent for the month. You yourself said so, so why should this film be any different? As a parody on the whole genre, yes, that might work. I doubt this film is that sophisticated.
I hope you haven’t taken too much offence, Dave. None was intended.
To your point, I will fully agree that every video game adaptation up to now has been rubbish and it is a genre in serious need of a parody. Whether this film is the parody that the genre needs is something that we will no doubt discover when it’s released.
