Paradise later

Paradise Now Way back in 2003. Palestinian film Divine Intervention was almost ruled ineligible for entry to the Oscars on the basis that Palestine is not recognised as a country by the UN - even though other unreconised countries have, in the past, had their entries accepted.

Things have moved on and this year, Palestinian film Paradise Now is up for an Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film. But not everyone is happy.

Israeli and American Jewish groups are complaining because the film is listed as being from “Palestine” and not the “Palestinian Authority”.
