A couple of dates to remember
Last week I mentioned that the StarShip Sofa science fiction podcast and audio magazine will be celebrating its 100th transmission with the publication of a book. Thanks to the generous contributions of Michael Moorcock, Peter Watts, Gene Wolfe, Joe R Lansdale, Ken MacLeod, Alastair Reynolds, Benjamin Rosebaum, Spider Robinson and many others, the book will serve both as a celebration of the Sofa and a way to keep its engines ticking over. And given the incredibly high standard of stories that this podcast provides, it is well worth supporting.
The book will be launched on 16th September, along with the 100th episode of StarShip Sofa and, last Friday, the cover was revealed in all of its gorgeously pulpy glory.
On a related note, October 1st is Support our ‘Zines Day. This started as an idea from Damien G Walter and is shockingly simple.
‘Zines are the places we go to find good, new short fiction, be they magazines like Interzone and Black Static, webzines such as The Hub or Arkham Tales or podcasts like… well, like StarShip Sofa. Support our ‘Zines Day is a day to list the ‘zines that you’ve enjoyed and subscribe or donate accordingly. Or buy the spin-off collection of short stories.
Whatever you do, keep in mind that it’s the small press where we will continue to find new and original stories. Helping them to keep going has to be worth something.
