When your technology is this good, the sky’s the limit
“It doesn’t do any good to have a superb server, if everything in between is very chaotic. So we realize we have to extend autonomic capabilities across the Internet. This is where Grid computing comes in…”
- Irving Wladawsky-Berger, IBM vice president of technology and strategy as quoted on the IBM Website.
And, putting its money where its mouth is, IBM have built its own “IntraGrid,” an internal network to unify IBM’s worldwide R&D resources and to serve as a test bed for its much vaunted grid services and solutions.
Of course, you need a reliable, easy to manage secure yet open platform to sit at the heart of a grid like this. Something like the iSeries.
